Christopher Jullien has discussed how the Celtic squad developed a siege mentality after being knocked out of the Champions League by Cluj.

The Frenchman sat that match out on the bench alongside Boli Bolingoli but that didn’t spare him from the post mortem as every area of the club came under attack.

Celtic stumbled through a Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline three days later but since then Neil Lennon’s have been firing on all cylinders.

Jullien was a hero in the Glasgow derby at the weekend but after just over two months at the club he knows the demands and scrutiny that he is operating under.

Looking back at the 4-3 defeat from Cluj he told The Sun:

After that game we were devastated because it was a goal of the club and players (to reach the Champions League). It was just a mistake. We are human – but the reaction we’ve shown was really important. We know we have talent and good players but we fought after that and I’m really happy with the team’s behaviour after (Cluj).

We didn’t have so much talk on what was being said outside of the field. We were just focused on the game and the victory was a good answer after all the effort we showed. We still have a lot of work to do and so far we’re only one month in. We are good but I’m sure we can be better.

After a run of five matches in the side no-one is questioning Jullien who now appears to be Neil Lennon’s first choice central defender.

Jozo Simunovic and Nir Bitton look like being out for the remainder of this month with Kris Ajer expected to be available in the next 10-14 days.

Cluj return to Celtic Park on October 3 in a Europa League group match.
