Greg Taylor has traveled with the Celtic squad to France for tonight’s Europa League opener against Rennes.

The defender joined Celtic from Kilmarnock on transfer deadline but failed to make the bench on Saturday against Hamilton despite being an unused substitute for Scotland in the matches against Belgium and Russia.

There had been some speculation that Taylor would be pitched in for a debut in the Glasgow derby as talks intensified about a move. Boli Bolingoli put in a storming display at Ibrox ahead of Taylor’s transfer with the new boy facing a big task to work his way into Neil Lennon’s side.

On Sunday Celtic host Taylor’s former club Killie in the SPFL with the defender cup-tied from the Betfred Cup after playing for Kilmarnock against Partick Thistle.

Despite playing in Kilmarnock’s Europa League ties against Connah’s Quay Nomad’s the 21-year-old is eligible to play for Celtic in the same competition.

Scott Bain also flew out with the squad after recovering from the hand injury he picked up during the 4-3 home defeat from Cluj.
