Griffiths laughs off bizarre Ibrox claims

Leigh Griffiths has hit back at a claim he ‘sparked the madness’ while celebrating Celtic’s second goal at Ibrox yesterday.

On the park Celtic played like champions as they handed Steven Gerrard’s side a painful reality check after three months of hype since the first summer signing checked in at Ibrox.

In terms of quantity of signings it has been a no contest, expectations were sky high going into yesterday’s match with Griffiths a convenient fall guy after reality kicked in with Celtic winning 2-0.

Griffiths didn’t make it onto the pitch but it seems that his presence on the away bench was enough to push some home fans over the edge.

Looking for deflection is a tried and tested format for old media, perhaps spending some time explaining the money spent last summer on Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda would be of more value. This summer Gerrard spent 90% of his transfer budget on Filip Helander and George Edmundson with neither kicking a ball yesterday.
