Griffiths struck by new problem

Leigh Griffiths won’t be part of the Celtic squad to face Hibs tomorrow.

The striker missed the Europa League trip to Rennes due to a thigh problem and has now developed a virus.

Griffiths looked to be ready to recapture his best form when he scored against Nomme Kalju, St Johnstone and Motherwell in the opening weeks of the season but he has now been overtaken by Vakoun Bayo as back up to Odsonne Edouard.

The Ivorian scored the opening goal in the 5-0 midweek win over Partick Thistle to add to the double that he notched against Hearts even though Craig Levein was keen to credit his defenders with own goals.

Celtic take their six match winning run in the SPFL to Easter Road tomorrow knowing that a win will put them six points clear of Steven Gerrard’s side before they kick off at home to Aberdeen.
