Leigh Griffiths has been left out of the Celtic squad that is in France to play Rennes.

The striker was an unused substitute on Saturday as Celtic won 1-0 away to Hamilton thanks to a goal from James Forrest.

With Odsonne Edouard the undisputed first choice striker Griffiths has had to contest with Vakoun Bayo to be back up to the young French striker.

Griffiths was out of football for the last six months of last season but returned to action under Neil Lennon scoring his first goal of the season with a spectacular free kick against Nomme Kalju.

Goals in the opening SPFL matches against St Johnstone and Motherwell prompted calls for a Scotland recall but Steve Clarke decided that it was best to leave him to work with his club.

In defence Christopher Jullien has fully recovered from te head knock that he suffered in the latter stages of the win over Hamilton.
