New bhoy Alofabi and fit again Dembele score for Celtic Reserves

Jonathan Alofabi made a scoring debut as Celtic beat Morton 4-2 in the Reserve Cup at Lennoxtown today with Karamoko Dembele also on target after coming on as a substitute for the last 30 minutes.

Celtic signed the forward after he was released by Southampton with the teenager netting in the 19th minute of today’s match following a back-heel from Armstrong Oko Flex.

That goal equalised the opener for Morton scored through Billy King after seven minutes but before the interval Oko Flex had put Celtic in front.

Six minutes after the restart Cameron Harper stretched Celtic’s lead after good build up play by Liam Burt but Morton reduced the deficit on the hour mark when Robbie Muirhead scored with a penalty.

A few minutes later Dembele replaced Burt to make his first competitive appearance of the season with the 16-year-old completing the scoring in the 87th minute with a close range effort.

Next Tuesday Celtic take on Albion Rovers in the Jock Stein Friendship Cup with further Reserve Cup matches coming up against Dunfermline (October 22) and Motherwell (December 2). Celtic opened their Reserve Cup group with a 4-2 win away to Dundee.
