Apparently Alfredo Morelos is a changed man this season, a new sensible mature version of the striker that picked up five red cards last term.

A barrage of goals in the early qualifying rounds of the Europa League failed to bring in any worthwhile offers despite Steven Gerrard constantly talking up interest in Colombia’s 12th best striker.

Against Celtic on Sunday, after two years and 10 appearances without a goal Gerrard opted to start with Jermain Defoe with Morelos thrown on as an angry substitute in the second half.

He lashed out wildly at goal with two chances but also at Scott Brown, showing that nothing has changed with his short temper.

Fortunately Bobby Madden missed the incident as did his assistant as Christopher Jullien cleared the ball without a second thought for Morelos.

With another transfer window failing to bring about a move from Ibrox the former HJK Helsinki starlet faces a long winter knowing that he’ll need to get in front of Defoe if he is to earn a transfer out of Scotland.
