Celtic won’t face any disciplinary charges from UEFA following the Europa League home match against Cluj.

A few excited media reports hinted that there could be a fine on the way after flares were used as part of the Green Brigade’s pre-match tifo display.

That prompted speculation on social media with some fans from elsewhere contacting UEFA with images of the flares.

Yesterday UEFA announced charges against Lazio, Vitoria, Eintract Frankfurt, Malmo and FC Copenhagen with three of those clubs charged in relation to firework offences. Celtic were missing from the list.

Celtic did pick up a fine of around £11,000 for trouble at the away match against AIK which saw flares lit pre-match and clashes with police which are believed to have been instigated by other Swedish supporters.

Last week’s 2-0 win over Cluj took Celtic into top place in Europa League Group E with the next two matches, home and away against Lazio, likely to have a major bearing on their qualification prospects.
