Jonathan Afolabi and Lee O’Connor have been included in the Ireland u-21 squad for the double header with Italy and Iceland.
The duo were involved in the squad that reached the semi-finals of the u-19 European Championships during the summer and have been promoted up by full international manager in waiting Stephen Kenny.
After winning 3-1 away to Sweden in their last outing next week’s match against the Italian’s has already been sold out at Shamrock Rovers’ Tallagh Stadium with the Irish winning all three of their opening matches.
Last night both players were in action as a Celtic XI beat Albion Rovers to win the Jock Stein Friendship Cup with Afolabi scoring the first two goals of the night.
Celtic signed Afolabi after he was freed by Southampton while a deal was struck with Manchester United for the transfer of O’Connor.
Mikey Johnston and on-loan keeper Ross Doohan have been included in the Scotland u-21 squad for next week’s matches against Lithuania and the Czech Republic.
