Monsieur Double became Le Hat Trick tonight as Odsonne Edouard scored a hat-trick for France in their 5-3 win over Slovakia in an u-21 European Championship qualifier.
The Celtic striker went into the match on the back of six goals from three u-21 appearances but improved on that ratio with strikes in the 23, 35th and 81st minutes in the eight goal thriller.
Wearing his Celtic number 22 on his back Edouard has recaptured the scoring form that made him unplayable at u-17 level, after missing out the u-19 stage he is now the main striker for the French u-21 side and a strike rival for Moussa Dembele in next summer’s Olympic squad.
Edouard’s big match goals for Celtic has forced his way into the u-21 squad where he has retained the same level of performance while converting nine goals with five from his two competitive appearances.
At the weekend he’ll be back on domestic duty as Celtic face Ross County at home looking to move into top spot in the SPFL Premiership.
