Scott Brown has slammed the double standards of Willie Collum.

No one at Celtic had any complaints about the red card issued to Ryan Christie, he went over the ball and endangered an opponent. It seems that Collum has learned from a very similar attack on Christie by Niall McGinn last December which only brought about a booking.

Typical of Scotland’s leading referee he raced to the scene flashing his red card dramatically at the Celtic midfielder after his clash with Scott Robinson.

Later in the match it was a different story when Keighan Jacobs flew in two footed on Jonny Hayes, Collum barely broke out of strolling pace to show a yellow card with Kris Ajer also booked for his protests.

Reviewing the incidents Brown told The Sun:

I’ve not seen it back, but I saw the late tackle over on the far side. It was a two footed lunge as well. At that time the game is gone anyway, but you’ve got to be consistent.

Ryan is not trying to hurt anybody. It’s not in his nature, he is a great lad, very honest. It’s one of those and we should try and dig him out a little bit more because of how well he has done for us this season.

Last November after a game against St Mirren the club from Ibrox issued a statement claiming that Collum had underlying issues.

After being fined £6,000 the Lanarkshire based official didn’t get another match involving Steven Gerrard’s club for six months, during that period Collum refereed four Celtic matches before being awarded the Scottish Cup Final.
