Celtic have been fined €12,000 by UEFA for the use of fireworks by supporters at the Europa League match against Cluj.

It’s the second time that the club has been fined by UEFA this season on the same issue but is one of the lowest sanctions that the governing body can hand out.

In other judgements today Vitoria SC of Portugal were fined €50,000 for fireworks, throwing objects and kicking off late while Ajax were fined €50,000 and have had their supporters banned for one away match for incidents at their Champions League match away to Valencia.

On their website UEFA announced:

Match: UEFA Europa League group stage match between Celtic FC and CFR 1907 Cluj (2-0), played on 3 October in Scotland

Charges against Celtic FC:
– Setting off of fireworks – Art. 16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations

Decision:
The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to fine Celtic FC €12,000.

Celtic will be extra vigilant with fans at next week’s Europa League clash with Lazio with UEFA watching events closely.

When the hoops travel to face the Italian side on November 7 part of the Stadio Olympico will be closed due to racist actions from Lazio fans in the Europa League match at home to Rennes.
