A Directions Hearing will be held tomorrow at the High Court in London to establish the amount of damages that Sports Direct are due after Dave King breached his contract with the sportswear firm.

At a hearing in June Lionel Persey QC found in favour of Mike Ashley’s firm on every count for the contract that was set up in June 2017 and hailed as a momentous victory for the Ibrox club.

Later in the year it emerged that it had cost £3m to get out of the previous contract which had been replaced by a new rolling deal between the two parties.

Last July the Ibrox club were dragged back into court as they prepared for a new kit launch between Hummel and Elite after they had failed to offer matching rights to Sports Direct.

King’s club have been able to fund the Gerrard Revolution on the back of their new retail deal but tomorrow they could discover just how much they have to pay out with the previous hearing discussing ‘many millions of pounds’.

Despite being urged to settle the case amicably no agreement has been reached with the Ibrox club having to pay the costs for both parties.

Having allegedly paid out over £10m for Ryan Kent and Filip Helander Sports Direct won’t be entertaining any pleas of poverty from the club.

With a secured loan from Close Brothers keeping the club afloat a decision awarding Sports Direct more than £5m in damages, plus costs, could have drastic consequences for the club who are still with Metro Bank seven years after foundation.
