Ryan Christie is looking to take his domestic frustration out on Lazio.

The midfielder was sent off against Livingston on October 6 and won’t be available to play again in the SPFL until Celtic host St Mirren on October 30.

Christie seems certain to come back into Neil Lennon’s side to face Lazio on Thursday night but will have to take a back seat against Aberdeen on Sunday.

The midfielder is crucial to the way that Neil Lennon’s side go about their business, leaving his mark on the Europa League ties against Rennes and Cluj already this season.

Christie kept himself sharp on Scotland duty against Russia and San Marino, as he sits things out domestically he has his thoughts set on Lazio and giving Celtic the best chance possible of being involved in Europe after Christmas.

“It’s so frustrating to still be serving the suspension,” he told The Sun. “That’s the thing with a red card, it sticks with you for a few weeks but I’ve kept training hard and I’ve been doing some extra running.

“Everyone keeps saying to me that I am still available for the Lazio game as well. That means it’s not too long a break and that I can hopefully be involved. I’ve kept myself ticking over and it would be good to get the chance to make an impact.”

Christie is a cert to be back in the side for Thursday’s match with 60,000 fans looking for him to impose his all action game on the Italian giants.
