Newcastle hero Matty Longstaff is the nephew of former Celtic favourite Alan Thompson.
The teenager made a dramatic EPL debut on Sunday when he scored the only goal of the game in a Man of the Match performance against Manchester United.
Yesterday a childhood picture emerged on social media of Matty wearing a Celtic top alongside big brother Sean in Newcastle kit.
The Longstaff story and that picture has captured the news agenda since Sunday with a home-grown story helping to clear some of the doom over Newcastle this season.
Thomson was a key player for Celtic between 2000 and 2005, when the picture was taken. As he watched the telly on Sunday his younger nephew suddenly became national news.

“I sent Matty a text before the game just telling him, even though there are 52,000 there, you don’t have to change the way you play,” Thompson told the Daily Mail.
“I told him not to complicate it, don’t feel you have to try anything too magical — and then he puts one in from 25 yards! I was making the Sunday dinner and had to run back through to the living room. I was jumping all over, absolutely buzzing.”
Older brother Sean played 17 matches on loan at Kilmarnock in 2017.
