Alex McLeish has claimed that he has turned down offers to return to management.

Thanks to his long term friend Alan McRae he had a year long stint in charge of Scotland followed by a pay off with his reign best remembered for a 3-0 defeat away to Kazakhstan.

On Saturday he was back in the dug out at Ibrox for a club fund raiser that attracted just over 30,000 fans through the turnstiles.

Apart from his spell in charge of Scotland McLeish hasn’t had a job in UK management since being sacked by Nottingham Forest in February 2013 but told The Sun that he has been turning down offers to return:

I’m having a break. I’ve had two or three approaches from different countries and continents — and from England as well but I’m taking a break, I’m not committing myself to anything just now.

Despite being based in London McLeish has had very few media appearances since losing his job as Scotland boss.

Every honour during his spell in charge at the old Rangers club was achieved with ineligible players on side contracts that weren’t registered with the SFA or SPL.
