Davie Moyes has added some detail to Brendan Rodgers’ rapid move to Leicester City.

On the morning of Sunday February 24 Leicester City announced that Claude Puel had been sacked on the back of a 4-1 televised home defeat from Crystal Palace.

After taking Celtic training the following day Rodgers packed his bags from Lennoxtown, headed south and was appointed Leicester manager early on the evening of February 26 after being pictured at the King Power Stadium with £9m compensation agreed and paid to Celtic.

By any standards it was a very smooth transition with the former hoops boss watching a 2-1 home win against Brighton little more than 48 hours after walking out on a BBC Scotland interview when asked about the Leicester City vacancy.

Moyes was a guest of BeIN Sport over the weekend with The Sun picking up on his thoughts when discussing Leicester’s 5-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend.

Speaking on BeIN Sports, he said: “I’d heard he’d been lined up for that job quite a long time before he got it. I think Brendan was always eventually going to come back. He did a great job at Celtic.”

Almost as quickly as Rodgers was in discussions with Leicester Celtic were in talks to bring in Neil Lennon as caretaker manager.

Rodgers has never discussed the timetable of his decision to dedicate his life to Leicester.
