Last night at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola oversaw Manchester City beat Atalanta 5-1, just another Champions League scalp for the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss.

The famous Catalan boss lifted the Big Cup in 2009 and 2011 while at the Nou Camp but has found the last eight to be a stumbling block as he moved on to Germany and England.

Despite that problem he has racked up various records with City having a 100% record in this season’s competition. Although they lost the opening goal to a penalty and had Phil Foden sent off last night City scored five times against respected Serie A opposition.

As he surveys that record there’s little doubt that the 2016 matches against Celtic will still be vivid in his memories.

Despite losing 7-0 to Barcelona on Matchday 1 a Celtic side inspired by Moussa Dembele went for City’s throat. Inspired by Moussa Dembele they drew 3-3 to halt City’s 100% start to the season, City were never quite the same as they finished the season in third place, 15 points behind Champions Chelsea.

On Matchday 6 Celtic earned a credible 1-1 draw at the Etihad, hopefully next season Pep gets the chance for revenge on Celtic with the side’s drawn together in the Champions League.
