Celtic are in a battle with three leading English sides for the signing of Bruno Davidson.

The 15-year-old winger is with leading youth side Hutchison Vale which has produced a number of top players including Leigh Griffiths.

It’s highly unusual for a top prospect to be outwith the professional game at the age of 15 but according to The Sun, Southampton, Wolves and Sunderland are all bidding for Davidson.

As well as the obvious benefit of staying closer to home Celtic can slot Davidson into their u-16 and u-18 Academy sides.

The hoops currently have a dearth of young players following through in the footsteps of the 2000 age group which brought through Jack Aitchison, Stephen Welsh, Daniel Church, Robbie Deas and Kerr McInroy.

Four of those players are currently out on loan with midfielder McInroy recovering from a long-term injury suffered at the end of last season.

Armstrong Oko-Flex, Lee O’Connor, Jonathan Afolabi, Cameron Harper, Luca Connell and Jeremie Frimpong have been brought in to bridge that gap with Karamoko Dembele the outstanding young player coming through the ranks.
