John Beaton will referee Celtic’s match at Aberdeen on Sunday.

The Lanarkshire based official attracted the anger of Tom Boyd earlier this season when he refused to give Celtic a penalty for hand-ball in the Betfred Cup tie against Dunfermline.

That match was Beaton’s only Celtic Park appointment this year after the club requested a public explanation for his performance at Ibrox last December.

During that match Ryan Christie, Tony Ralston and Scott Brown were all on the end of attacks from Alfredo Morelos who avoided any action from Beaton.

Celtic go into the match on top of the SPFL based on having scored more goals than the Ibrox club who have the same points and goal difference as the champions.

At Ibrox on Sunday Lanarkshire referee Andrew Dallas will be in charge for the visit of Motherwell, during the close season Dallas dropped off the elite FIFA list.
