Connor McBride has joined Stenhousemuir on loan.

The teenage forward was part of the Celtic squad that faced Albion Rovers in the Jock Stein Friendship Cup and will now get the chance to face League Two opposition on a regular basis.

The Stenhousemuir website announced:

New First Team Manager Davie Irons has moved swiftly to bring in his first signing of his second reign in charge of the Warriors.

Connor McBride, an 18 year old forward has joined on loan from Celtic. It will be a return to where it all started for Connor as he was part of the Warriors community programme from the age of 8 before progressing into the Stenhousemuir FC Academy at Under 10s.

McBride had to settle for a place on the bench yesterday as Stenny pulled off the shock of the day by inflicting a first league defeat on League Two leaders Cove Rangers.

Despite going behind in the third minute Stenny hit back with three goals before the break before holding out for a 3-2 win. On Friday they have a Tunnocks Cup tie at home to Waterford.

Up in The Championship it was a useful weekend for loan bhoys Robbie Deas and Stephen Welsh. On Friday night Deas kept Lawrence Shankland quiet at Alloa enjoyed a 1-0 win over Dundee United while Welsh helped Morton to a 1-1 draw at home to Dunfermline.
