Jereme Frimpong is the surprise name on the Celtic team-sheet at Aberdeen today with the teenager replacing Hatem Elhamed in the side that beat Lazio on Thursday night.

Tom Rogic is a direct replacement for the suspended Ryan Christie but it’s the decision to give Frimpong his third appearance- his first away from Celtic Park- that will have caused a surprise among fans and the Aberdeen management team.

Following on from Thursday, Christie’s suspension is a blow but there is no shortage of Celtic players capable of stepping up to make as big an impact.

The last time that the two clubs met was at Pittodrie in May when Celtic clinched the title with a 3-0 win, a match that was to be Kieran Tierney’s final appearance for the club.

Aberdeen have also been hit with suspension with Lewis Ferguson and Curtis Main serving the second match of the suspensions picked up from being sent off in the 1-1 home draw with Hibs.

CELTIC: Forster; Frimpong, Ajer, Jullien, Bolingoli; McGregor, Brown; Forrest, Rogic, Elyounoussi; Edouard

SUBS: Gordon, Bitton, Bauer, Elhamed, Hayes, Sinclair, Bayo
