Jeremie Frimpong made the same impression on his new Celtic team-mates as he has with the hoops support.

The 18-year-old has only made six top team appearances but has already become a key element of Neil Lennon’s side with James Forrest switched over to the left against Livingston to maximise the impact of the former Manchester City defender.

Frimpong joined Celtic on transfer deadline day alongside another couple of ‘project signings’ but has wasted no time settling in and has made the breakthrough quicker than anticipated as his exclusion from the 25 man Europa League squad demonstrates.

Speaking to the Daily Record Kris Ajer recalled:

Jeremie has been fantastic since he came in the summer. Since the first training session he has proven himself as a top talent. The way he is training and working every day is to get better and better and you can see it in the games. He’s a really fantastic talent.

When you are young and go into a dressing room, you have to work your way into it but he has been incredible. You can see with the way he is playing consistently that it’s not just a one-off. It’s there every single time and that’s just incredible.

Frimpong will take a back-seat on Thursday as Moritz Bauer takes his place for the Europa League tie at home to Rennes.

Being excluded from the Europa League squad has provided Frimpong with extra breathing space between matches but when the knock-out phase comes around in February he is certain to be included.
