Hatem Abd Elhamed has posted a bad news message after having a scan on his groin injury.

The defender over-stretched for a ball in the 83rd minute of Celtic’s 2-1 win over Lazio and was replaced by Nir Bitton.

On Friday at his media conference Neil Lennon explained that they’d wait till Saturday to do a scan since there was still a lot of bruising around the injury.

Late this afternoon he posted

Moritz Bauer was a late substitute against Lazio with Jeremie Frimpong also available for tomorrow’s match against Motherwell.

Against Lazio Elhamed moved inside from his usual right-back berth to form a three man central defensive unit with Kris Ajer and Christopher Jullien.

With an international break coming up Celtic will be hoping that the defender’s absence is minimised, in December Celtic face nine matches in 28 days including a seven day programme that sees them play Hibs and Aberdeen at home in-between a trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts.
