In a bizarre move Celtic have been linked with Gillingham keeper Joe Walsh.

The 17-year-old signed a three-year professional contract in May which rules him out of a cross-country development move. More relevantly Celtic have rarely been so well off for goalkeepers.

Under-21 internationalists Ross Doohan and Conor Hazard are currently out on loan at Ayr United and Dundee leaving reserve team duties to Ryan Mullen and Liam Hughes.

Next in line is England u-18 keeper Tobi Oluwayemi who moved from Spurs in the summer on a three-year contract but undeterred the Evening Times reports:

Celtic are among a number of European giants keeping tabs on Gillingham goalkeeper Joe Walsh. The young stopper, 17, has been watched by the Hoops as well as a host of other clubs. Manchester City, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig are all understood to be interested in the player.

Walsh may be a very talented keeper but with a three-year contract signed in May it will take serious money to tempt him away.

Scott Bain recently signed a contract extension, with the lack of a formal Reserve League, Hazard and Doohan have had to go out on loan to the Scottish Championship in order to get meaningful game time.
