Boli Bolingoli is enjoying the finest view in Scottish football- directly behind Mo Elyounoussi as he tears Scottish defences apart.

The on-loan winger has scored in Celtic’s last four domestic matches as Ross County, Aberdeen, St Mirren and Hibs have all felt the backlash from the Norwegian who spent a season of frustration at Southampton.

Bolingoli and Elyounoussi have formed a devastating partnership with the Belgian defender showing his worth at the back while selecting his forward runs with one assist against Lazio standing out.

At Hampden on Saturday the duo was at their best during the first half with Elyounoussi scoring twice and creating the other as Celtic booked their place in the final of the Betfred Cup.

“It’s great,” Bolingoli told Video Celts about Celtic’s left-wing partnership. “We have a lot of quality players in front of me but with Elyounoussi there is a natural understanding, we are enjoying playing together, it is good to have a player like that in front of me.

“It is very natural; he loves to get on the ball and I like to combine with him. We also have Callum McGregor on that side who likes to get involved which adds to our combinations. It’s good to have that quality of team-mate and understanding on the park.

“I never really knew much about him Mo when he joined Celtic but he is getting better and better with every game.”

While Elyounoussi surges up the goal charts Bolingoli is still waiting for his first goal as a Celtic player.

The nerves that were obvious in his early appearances for the club have been replaced by more confident displays with the derby day success at Ibrox clearly a turning point.

“I’m feeling good about my game now, I’m confident,” he added. “It was just a matter of time to pick things up when you move to a new club, I feel that I’m improving which is important.

“I’m open to play left-back or left-wing back, I think that you have to be able to adapt at this club, now I’m looking to get more assists and goals.

“Hopefully my first goal isn’t too far away. Christopher Jullien beat me to that; he gets chances from corners but my time will come.”
