Jonny Hayes was a popular choice as Man-of-the-Match after Celtic’s 2-0 win over Motherwell.

Boli Bolingoli’s injury against Hibs last week opened the door for the former Aberdeen man who arrived at Celtic as a winger in the summer of 2017.

Against Lazio in midweek Hayes put in an energetic performance, pushing forward at every opportunity to support Mo Elyounoussi while giving the Italian side no encouragement as they pushed forward.

Today against Motherwell there was less of an attacking threat to the Celtic defence, early in the second half a cross from Hayes forced Richard Tait into heading into his own net.

While other players head off on international duty Hayes will have some time off which is likely to be taken up by working on his coaching qualifications.

After scoring at Ibrox in September the Dubliner has his place in folklore assured but it seems that he has a few more prizes in mind this season.
