Elyounoussi body-swerves the big question

Moi Elyounoussi won’t consider his future until the end of the season.

Following his £15m transfer from Basel in the summer of 2018 things went downhill at Southampton but at Celtic his career is moving in the right direction again.

In the quiet of an international week there was a speculative report that Elyounoussi would be available for £10m but his form at Celtic is likely to have increased his value.

Celtic have been in this position before with Jason Denayer, Patrick Roberts and John Guidetti with experience suggesting that it’s best to enjoy the player while he is in Glasgow without building up expectations of a permanent deal.

Picking up on an interview elsewhere The Sun reports:

Speaking to the Ladbrokes social club, he said: “Yeah I mean for now it’s not up to me. The clubs have to talk. I am really happy here. Celtic is an amazing club but I haven’t really thought about my future yet.

I just think about the next training, next game and do my best. In the summer we will see where we go.

Last week Elyounoussi pulled out of the Norway squad due to a leg injury but he is expected to be available for Thursday’s Europa League match against Rennes. The 25-year-old is under contract with Southampton until 2023.
