Moi Elyounoussi has played down fears about an injury and should face Rennes next week.

The winger has been in stunning form over the last two months but sent a chill through the Celtic support when he pulled out of the Norway squad last Friday and returned to Lennoxtown for treatment.

After scoring in the Europa League win against Cluj, Elyounoussi went on an impressive run combining his strong forward play with a regular supply of goals.

With the domestic season entering a critical phase Neil Lennon needs all of his players at full fitness with the on-loan Southampton winger delivering some good news as he picked up the October Player of the Month award.

The Sun reports:

Elyounoussi was sent home by the Norwegian national team with an injury last week. But he has revealed that it’s only a small knock on his foot.

He is a doubt for Livingston on Saturday but should be ready for Rennes in the Europa League next week.

The 25-year-old, who moved to Saints from Basel last year for £16million, said: “I actually picked up the injury against Hibs in the Betfred Cup semi-final.

“Then I had to go with the national team and it didn’t really have enough time to heal. So we had a look at it and it was decided I needed a rest but I think it will be all right.”

With Leigh Griffiths scoring twice in a friendly against Stenhousemuir and Greg Taylor playing in both Scotland matches it looks like Celtic will have a stronger squad coming out of the international break than before.

There will be no talk of revenge when the hoops take on Livingston on Saturday but a win will make up for the only domestic defeat of the season ahead of the crammed December fixture schedule.
