Peter Smith of STV has commented on the blatantly sectarian (Anti-Catholic) flag being cheered around Holland today.

Some might suggest that he is making light of the content of the flag but it does confirm that news outlets are aware of it.

The phrase used on the banner has brought the Ibrox clubs into conflict with UEFA in the past, in 2011 no away fans were allowed to attend the Champions League qualifier away to Malmo.

Twice this season similar sentiments expressed in song has led to partial closures at Ibrox and forced the club to rush out their Everyone Anyone campaign.

While UEFA take a fairly soft approach to the matter the SFA and SPFL hasn’t mentioned or even censured the current Ibrox club over the issue.

During a match against Celtic in April 2017 Scott Sinclair was racially abused, Scott Brown confronted on the pitch from a stand almost devoid of stewards while objects including a large sized battery were thrown at Celtic players.

Any further racist actions at tonight’s match in Rotterdam is expected to lead to a full stand closure for the Europa League match at home to Young Boys in a fortnight.
