Neil Lennon doesn’t want to lose Scott Sinclair during the January transfer window.

The winger has struggled to find a place on the bench this season with Mo Elyounoussi the first choice left-winger at the club with Jonny Hayes and Mikey Johnston as back-up.

Celtic activated a 12 month option on Sinclair’s contract in May, retaining one of the highest paid players at the club.

The first sign of problems appeared in August when the former Aston Villa man was left out of the Celtic squad that travelled to Cluj in anticipation of a move to England that failed to materialise.

Since then Sinclair has been used sparingly but in January he will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement to move elsewhere.

Covering his pre-match interview with Radio Scotland when he was asked about selling the winger in January the Daily Record reported:

Lennon told Sportsound: “I hope not. He will still play a part. We’ve got nine games in December and I imagine Scott will figure the squad or even the team in some of those games.

“With Tom Rogic coming back into contention, Scotty has been squeezed out at the minute. I’ve got real competition in those places and Scott’s finding himself out of the picture at the minute.”

Sinclair was on the bench away to Lazio but was left out against Motherwell with Lewis Morgan taking his place.
