Kundai Benyu is on his way back to Celtic from Helsingborgs.

The midfielder was signed by Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2017 but found first team chances very limited.

Celtic paid Ipswich a development fee for Benyu after he had impressed on loan at Aldershot but perhaps falling out with Mick McCarthy should have served as a warning about the player who has been capped by Zimbabwe since his move to Celtic.

A loan deal to Oldham in January 2018 produced only three first team appearances before he made an early return to Celtic.

The 21-year-old is under contract until June 2021 but it seems likely that both parties will be willing to terminate his contract and move on.

Benyu signed a year long loan deal in January but only played 10 matches for Helsingborgs and hasn’t featured since the middle of August. Henrik Larsson had a brief spell in charge of the side who finished the season in 10th place in the Swedish top flight.
