Davie Provan has suggested that Scotland should switch their European Championship semi-final against Israel from Hampden to Celtic Park, or Ibrox.

There would only be one option for anyone with common sense but that has rarely been a factor in Scottish football.

With an extra 10,000 seats and a reputation throughout the world, Celtic Park would be the logical choice with the bonus of providing a home match for four members of Steve Clarke’s side.

In The Sun Provan explains:

CHARISMATIC SFA president Rod Petrie says Hampden will be “European class” in time to host next summer’s Euro 2020 games.

What does that mean? Supposedly undercover on the TV gantry last week, broadcasters were getting soaked during the Kazakhstan game.

God knows what it was like for punters paying top dollar for front row seats. Right now Hampden is a soulless relic.

If Petrie’s gang want to do Steve Clarke a favour for the Israel game, they’ll move it to Celtic Park or Ibrox.

It’s unclear what European class changes will be made to Hampden over the seven months before they host matches in the European Championships.

In 2014 Celtic Park hosted international matches against Ireland and England with the Scotland players acknowledging that the change of venue had provided them with a lift.

Should the Scotland v Israel match be moved from Hampden?

No, got to be the National Stadium

Yes, Hampden is a disastrous ground

The SFA recently bought Hampden Park from Queens Park but without bringing in the bulldozers it’s impossible to see how the views can be improved as well as providing cover from the elements.
