You’d think that Hibs fans would have more to be angry about closer to home.

Perhaps the lingering influence of Rod Petrie, the leadership of Leeann Dempster, the boredom of Paul Heckingbottom or the title claims of new owner Ron Edwards.

But no, for one Hibbie at Hampden his problem was all around him, 40,000 strong as Celtic turned on the style to book a return trip to Hampden next month for the final of the Betfred Cup. Hating Celtic over-rides watching another abject display from Heckingbotton’s side!

After Callum McGregor scored the second goal some Hibs fans were edging towards the exit gate, when Scott Brown made it 4-1 more were on their way before a second Hibs goal gave them a flicker of hope.

Those that hung about till the end witnessed another goal for Brown, a former Hibs player who was in their side that last won the League Cup.

As the Celtic fans dispersed into the night to celebrate a stunning attacking display one Hibbie had other thoughts despite facing up to another season of misery under Dempster who was appointed by Petrie.

It’s only a matter of time now before Heckingbottom joins Neil Lennon, Alan Stubbs, Terry Butcher, Pat Fenlon, Colin Calderwood, John Hughes, Mixu Paatelainen, John Collins, Tony Mowbray, Bobby Williamson, Franck Sauzee and Alex McLeish who have failed to sustain sunshine on Leith.
