Celtic produced one of their best away days since the Seville season to book a place in the last 32 of the Europa League by beating Lazio 2-1 tonight.

Group E  looked like it would be very evenly matched but with two matches left to play Celtic have qualified- seven points ahead of Lazio and nine clear of Rennes.

It was a very nervous opening from Neil Lennon’s side with Lazio deserving of their seventh minute lead when Ciro Immobile shot across Fraser Forster from 15 yards out.

Slowly Celtic worked their way into the match without really threatening the Lazio goal but in the 38th minute James Forrest latched on to a pass from Mo Elyounoussi, took two touches then slammed an unstoppable shot into the net.

Both teams had spells of dominance in the second half, Fraser Forster pulled off a couple of outstanding block saves before the signal went up for five minutes added time.

In the final 60 seconds Odsonne Edouard was the provider, sending through Olivier Ntcham who deftly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper to kick off a long night of celebrations in the Italian capital.
