Alfredo Morelos returned to form as he drew a blank in Colombia’s 1-0 defeat to Ecuador in a friendly last night.
The Ibrox striker scored the only goal of the game in last week’s 1-0 win over Peru which triggered a fresh wave of hysteria speculating over a multi-million pound January deal. Saint Etienne and Crystal Palace were among the clubs mentioned as keeping tabs on the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

Midway through the first half of last night’s match a mistake by an Ecuador defender presented Morelos with a clear run at goal, similar to the chance Odsonne Edouard scored from at Ibrox in September.
Most strikers know that you need to shoot across the keeper, force him into a block that may create a rebound but in trademark fashion Morelos choked and sent a weak shot past his near post. At half time he was substituted.
After initially claiming that he knew Morelos wouldn’t be sold in January Steven Gerrard watered down his approach by saying that it would be a decision for the board and that they knew his views on the matter.
