Celtic are getting ever closer to the trophy lifting world record of El Ahly.

The Egyptian side have won 118 recognised trophy since formation in 1907 with last week’s League Cup win the 109th trophy that Celtic have won consisting of Scottish champions (50), Scottish Cup (39), League Cup (19) and of course the 1967 European Cup.

One off invitation trophies such as the Coronation Cup and Empire Exhibition Cup aren’t included in the trophy haul.

Ten of those trophies have been won in the last 36 months, if that rate can be maintained over the next couple of years Celtic will be the club closest to El Ahly who won the 2019 Egyptian title.

In theory Celtic have three more trophies to play for this season but having never before won the UEFA/Europa League it’ll take an almighty effort to win that trophy in Poland in May.

With nine Championship wins, five in the Scottish Cup and six League Cup medals Scott Brown is one of the most decorated players in Celtic’s history with Bobby Lennox out in front with 11 league winners, 8 Scottish Cup winners, 5 League Cup medals and 1 European Cup winners medal.
