Celtic have been linked with an interest in Sebastian Andersson.

The Union Berlin striker has scored eight goals so far this season after helping his side to promotion to the Bundesliga this season.

The initial report of Celtic’s interest appeared to surface in German publication Bild and was picked up on by the Daily Record and others.

Stories that appear in local publications tend to carry more credibility with Brighton, Ajax and Villarreal as well as Celtic all reported to be watching Anderson in action this weekend against Paderborn.

Bringing in a striker when the transfer window opens next month seems certain to be Neil Lennon’s priority with Odsonne Edouard virtually the only option through the first half of the season.

Since moving to Germany with Kaiserlautern in 2017 Andersson has worked his way into the Swedish international squad where he is currently a team-mate of Mikael Lustig.

There appears to be conflicting reports over whether the 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season or whether his Union Berlin deal runs until June 2021.
