Celtic dismissed Hearts 2-0 tonight at Tynecastle to stretch their lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership to five points.
First half goals from Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard put Celtic in control with the hoops passing up half a dozen chances to increase their lead after the break.
The SPFL re-arranged the fixture in-between matches against Hibs and Aberdeen with the cramped schedule giving Celtic the chance to go five points clear ahead of Friday’s visit to Easter Road for Steven Gerrard’s side.
It was a ninth successive win in the title race for Celtic with the points pushing the surprise defeat away to Livingston further into the distance.
Jonny Hayes and Christie came into the starting line up with the Scotland internationalist back to his best form with the opening goal clinically tucked away.
Celtic can now sit back and cheer Hibs on Friday night, if there is any slip up from Gerrard’s side the hoops will be looking to pounce against Aberdeen the following day as they countdown to the Glasgow derby on December 29 gathers pace.

The battle at Culloden had a better surface

Easy enough win on a shocking surface.

Good result. Should have been more but going to Tynecastle is always a tricky place to go, no matter how poorly hearts are playing. I’d have taken that at the start of the night, 3 points in the bag, 5 points clear. Job done ?
