Steven Gerrard is lining up an incredible triple swoop AHEAD of the January transfer window.

According to a report in The Sun Steve Davis, Allan McGregor and Jermain Defoe are close to agreeing 12-month extensions to keep them at Ibrox until June 2021.

At the age of 34 midfield ace Davo is three years younger than his hugely experienced team-mates.

All three players are out of contract at the end of this season but rather than see them agree pre-contract deals elsewhere on January 1 Gerrard is ready to ring-fence them for another tilt at glory.

The Sun reports:

All three have been in talks over extending their Gers stay and those deals are now all but in place. Gaffer Gerrard is set to commit until 2024 while Davis, Defoe and McGregor have all been handed one-year extensions.

With that trio set to be secured Gerrard and star spotter Ross Wilson will be hoping to unload some of the deadwood when the transfer window opens.

Andy Halliday, Greg Docherty and Jamie Murphy may be die-hard fans but it’s been obvious this season that they are heading in the same direction as Graham Dorrans. The Doc is attracting interest from Shrewsbury while Blackpool and Fleetwood could give Murphy a choice to make.

Albanian ace Eros Grezda is keen to get his wages matched elsewhere while USA defender Matt Polster has found opportunities limited by the outstanding form of James Tavernier.
