Celtic have collected £5.5m from UEFA for their Europa League exploits with a further £1m on offer if they can get through the Round of 32.

Neil Lennon’s side completed their campaign with four wins and a draw from a group containing Lazio, Cluj and Rennes with 60,000 fans paying in to the three home matches.

The money on offer hardly compares to the riches available from the Champions League but pays out significantly more than the £3,350,00 on offer for winning the SPFL over 28 matches.

Celtic will pick up €500,000 for reaching the last 32 with a bonus of €1, for topping their group.

Each group stage win is worth €570,000 bringing in a total of €2,280,000 plus €190,000 for the draw away to Rennes.

In total that was worth €3,970,000 on top of the €2,920,000 picked up for reaching the group stage. Celtic also received payments for playing in three qualifying rounds in the Champions League.

Winning their tie in the Round of 32 is worth €1,100,000 which would take direct prize money from UEFA to almost €8m which is worth around £6.6m at current exchange rates.

The group stage matches produced three full houses at Celtic Park and gave the club a high profile through the autumn with three home wins and a further full house assured for the Round of 32 on February 27.
