Kris Boyd breaks his post League Cup Final silence

Kris Boyd has finally emerged from his post League Cup Final bunker.

The former Kilmarnock striker spent the first week in December anticipating an end to Celtic’s incredible run of domestic success when they came up against Steven Gerrard’s men at Hampden.

Last week, following the draw at Aberdeen Boyd told Sun readers:

Because there will be a realisation now that if they play like that and draw with a team like Aberdeen, then Celtic will lift another trophy if there’s a repeat. I just can’t see Rangers being as sloppy again, which is why I fancy them to lift the cup.

Celtic’s domination has to come to an end at some stage and I have a feeling it might just be this weekend.

After Chris Jullien’s goal gave Celtic a tenth successive trophy Boyd went into hiding.

Not a word was heard from him on Sky Sports, Radio Scotland or TalkSPORT. Perhaps he had other issues to deal with rather than admitting to premature celebrations over the end of Celtic’s trophy domination.

This morning Boyd is back in The Sun, rejoicing at Gerrard’s new contract and a place in the last 32 of the Europa League for the Ibrox club.

Hampden seems like a lifetime away as he touched on in passing:

The performance last weekend at Hampden will have given Gerrard added belief Rangers are on a par with their biggest rivals. Yes, the result didn’t go in their favour, but the display was impressive.

No trophies are handed out for impressive displays or for being on a par with your biggest rivals- that is what separates the winners from hard luck stories.
