With six matches left this year there is no doubt over who is the most important player in Neil Lennon’s squad.

Any analysis of Sunday’s League Cup Final highlights the influence of Odsonne Edouard.

For 59 minutes Celtic looked shapeless, unable to pose a real threat to the vulnerable Ibrox defenders. When Edouard replaced Lewis Morgan, Conor Goldson panicked into chopping down the substitute for the free kick that created the goal. Soon after he sent Mikey Johnston through on goal for Celtic’s only other chance.

Edouard had missed the three previous matches due to injury and was left out of the squad to face Cluj tonight in Romania.

Lennon told The Sun:

On the absent Edouard, Lennon said: “We’re keeping him back, he will do a bit more intensive training this week to be ready for Sunday.”

Leigh Griffiths will feature at some stage in Romania but it remains to be seen whether he will be put on from the start.

The former Hibs striker appeared as a substitute in the four matches leading upto the League Cup Final but was left out of the matchday squad at Hampden.
