Lennon pinpoints one or two January targets

|

Neil Lennon was hoping to ‘pinpoint one or two players’ at a recruitment meeting today.

Among a packed schedule of December fixtures the hoops boss has had to work on plans for the transfer window which is a fortnight away.

Most supporters and pundits have a new striker at the top of the list- ideally signed in time to benefit from the warn weather training break in Dubai.

Asked how far down the road he was to signing players in January, Lennon, shaking his head, said:

Nothing yet, we have a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) , we’ll sit down and discuss options. We’ll hopefully pinpoint one or two players and try and get a move on with that. There’s nothing at the minute.

With Nicky Hammond in place as Head of Football Operations the January window should be a little easier than the summer where players were being brought in with Champions League qualifiers well underway.

A central defender is also expected to be on Lennon’s list even though Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien have formed a very effective partnership.

Jozo Simunovic has been troubled with injuries throughout his Celtic career which combined with Hatem Abd Elhamed’s groin injury has left Lennon short of options at the back with Ajer and Jullien playing last week in Cluj while six other regulars were rested.
