Neil Lennon has warned Celtic’s SPFL competitors that his young team is only going to get better.

Scott Brown, James Forrest and Callum McGregor are serial winners but this season they are being backed up by younger, emerging talent.

At 24 Ryan Christie is catching up for lost time with three players name-checked today by the Celtic manager.

The BBC website reports:

“I think the team can get better,” Lennon said. “There is more to come from them. “They’re still young a lot of them – your Ajers, Frimpongs, Mikey Johnstons are all teens or early 20s. You’ve got players on top of that who are consistently underrated by some. What we’ve done in Europe this year has been spectacular and what we’ve done domestically has been almost perfect.”

At the age of 21 Ajer recently made his 100th appearance for Celtic on top of the experience that he picked up during a loan spell at Kilmarnock.

Odsonne Edouard is the same age and is playing a key role in the SPFL title race for the third season running with a record of 12 goals from 14 league appearances.

On the back of 10 successive wins in the SPFL Lennon will take his squad to Paisley on Thursday knowing that extending that run to a dozen will put the hoops at least 8 points clear going into the winter break.
