Neil Lennon has responded to quotes from Craig Gordon and Scott Sinclair with both players suggesting that their futures lie elsewhere.
Three years ago the duo played a central part in the Invincible Season as the hoops stormed to an unprecedented success sweeping all before them.
This season has been much different and although both men were in the starting XI against Cluj in midweek only Gordon made the bench against Hibs with Sinclair watching from the stand.
Lennon has at least two players competing for every position with competition for places on the bench keenly fought over.
Responding to the quotes from Sinclair and Gordon, Lennon told the Daily Record:
“It’s a situation not of Craig’s making. He’s a great pro and I get the fact he might want to play more games.”
On Sinclair, Lennon continued: “I’m not aware of those quotes at all. We will have a chat with Sincy going forwards. It’s been a difficult period for him because of the quality in front of him at the minute.”
Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and down the pecking order as Lennon puts his own stamp on the squad.
With the Europa League and Scottish Cup to be played for in the new year as well as a close-run title race it’s unlikely that Celtic will be letting anyone leave during the January transfer window.
