One lucky punter is two grand up for Christmas thanks to Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian has somehow managed to escape justice from Scottish referees this season but his luck finally ran out at Fir Park today.

Don Robertson opted to ignore Morelos flicking a boot at Declan Gallagher just before half time but that incident seemed to up the temperature with Scotland team-mates Gallagher and Ryan Jack booked for an incident after the half time whistle.

Morelos escaped punishment for a few typically late challenges but got booked in the 59th minute for following through on a Motherwell defender after the ball had been cleared.

Twelve minutes later a shot from Morelos deflected into the net- rather than race behind the goal to celebrate with his own fans the former HJK Helsinki starlet headed towards the Motherwell support where a gesture was noted by Robertson.

Once the celebrations were completed a second yellow card came out with Morelos getting his first red of the season.

Steven Gerrard will now have to rely on Jermain Defoe for Friday’s match away to Hibs, with Robertson finding his red card other referees may now be less reluctant to discipline the most valuable asset at Ibrox.
