Scott Brown could find himself making an unexpected trip to Romania next week.

The hoops skipper has played in all 12 European matches this season taking his tally as a Celtic player to over 100 with most of them wearing the skipper’s armband.

A yellow card picked up against Rennes means that he is suspended for the dead-rubber against Cluj but his manager could have a surprise special role for Brown to play.

The Daily Record reports Nel Lennon saying:

Scott Brown’s now suspended for the game anyway after his booking and he was joking to the boys, ‘Enjoy Cluj, lads.’ Well, I might just bring him to Romania for the hell of it!

Lennon seems certain to take a shadow squad to Romania next week for the fixture which falls five days after the League Cup Final at Hampden.

Following the game against Cluj Celtic face three vital matches in seven days knowing that full points from Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen will put them in a very strong position in the SPFL title race.

Brown will be available for those matches with the 34-year-old playing as well as ever as he chases his 10 league winners medal.
