Fabricio Bruno has made a fresh plea to the Brazilian courts to have his contract with Cruzeiro cancelled with unpaid wages dating back to May.

Relegation has plunged Cruzeiro into crisis with a new board of directors trying to put together a business plan that can keep the club afloat.

Bruno is one of their highest earners with second tier football unable to maintain the salary commitments on his contract.

With confirmed interest from Celtic a cut price transfer would seem the logical compromise but so far neither side has shown any sign of wanting to resolve the issue.

Covering the aftermath of a December 20 court hearing Brazilian website Hojeemdia reports:

In the player’s attorney’s reconsideration request, he points out that there is no expectation of Cruzeiro’s improvement at present and in the near future.

“There is no prospect of improvement, no prospect of agreement, no prospect of late payment, no prospect of salary and other sums due in the coming months. There is no reason to keep the complainant tied to a club that doesn’t even pay the lowest-paid cooks or employees, “says another part of the reconsideration request made to the court.

The first hearing of the case is scheduled for February 8, 2020, so the defender of the defender requested the release of the player in order to be free to hit with another team. However, as the initial request was denied, so the defence tries another card to take Fabrício Bruno do Cruzeiro

Judgment of this merit need not wait for the return of forensic activities, paralyzed until next year because of the recess. A judge on duty may assess the player’s request.

Before Christmas Cruzeiro issued a statement discussing contract negotiations in London between Bruno’s agents and Celtic.

Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien have been Celtic’s regular central defensive partnership this season but with Jozo Simunovic and Hatem Abd Elhamed both injured Nir Bitton is on stand-by to play in central defencE.
