After a few speculative feel-good transfer stories the reality of Ross Wilson’s role at Ibrox has been revealed in today’s Daily Record.
The former Southampton transfer guru has been tasked with shifting the deadwood out of Ibrox in a desperate bid to cut the wage bill. In September his predecessor Mark Allen decided to spend more time with his family.
According to the Record:
Ibrox first-team squad stars Jamie Murphy, Greg Docherty and Matt Polster will be made available in the next month’s window with Andy King’s loan deal from Leicester City set to be cut short.
Good luck with that little lot Rossco.
Lifelong fans Murphy and Docherty have been frozen out of the side by Steven Gerrard while Polster has been unable to oust error prone James Tavernier from the side. Leicester’s title winning midfield schemer King has been missing from action since September.
Behind the joy of the Gerrard revolution has been £1m/month losses with that figure set to rocket next season when the current retail agreements revert to Sports Direct. The 2019 annual report warned of a £10m funding shortfall for this season.
While Gerrard has been adding to his squad at will- Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart, Steven Davis, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Brandon Barker- were added during the summer with only Daniel Candeias sold for a fee.

Kyle Lafferty, Graham Dorrans and Joe Dodoo had their contracts paid up while Jordan Rossiter and Jason Holt were sent out on loan in the final year of their contracts. Albanian wing ace Eros Grezda turned down offers to go on loan to France and is under contract until 2022.
Andy Halliday is out of contract at the end of this season with time running out for the former Bradford ace to convince Gerrard that he is worth a new deal.
